OptiPlex Encrypted Backups
Privacy policy
Last updated: September 30, 2026
This policy describes a personal backup utility operated solely for its owner. Backup operations run on owner-controlled equipment; this informational website provides no public sign-in or account registration.
Data accessed
- Google Drive files and metadata: the utility requests
drive.fileaccess to create, read, update and remove files and folders that it creates for its backup repository. - Account identity and storage quota: the account email address and storage availability are checked to confirm the intended Google account and capacity for backups.
- Application recovery data: owner-selected application files, databases, configuration and recovery metadata are prepared on the owner's equipment and encrypted by restic before upload.
Purpose and use
Data is used to authorize the owner's connection, store encrypted recovery points, read and verify backups, test recovery, manage retention and report backup status. Google user data is not sold or used for advertising, unrelated profiling or AI model training.
Storage and protection
Encrypted repository files are stored in the owner's authorized Google Drive and on owner-controlled backup storage. Temporary working and restore copies are processed privately on the owner's equipment and removed after the relevant operation.
The utility's Google authorization credentials and restic recovery passwords are kept in private files on owner-controlled devices, separately from the uploaded backup data. Private recovery copies are retained by the owner. Google receives the authorization and storage requests needed to provide its services.
Sharing and notifications
Encrypted backup files are transferred to Google Drive for the owner. Owner-configured private status notifications may include operation status, timing and generic failure messages. Notifications exclude backup contents, authorization credentials and recovery passwords.
The utility does not disclose Google user data for marketing or provide another organization access to the owner's backup contents.
Retention and deletion
Recovery points follow the owner's configured daily, weekly and monthly retention policy. Expired recovery points are removed through restic's retention process.
When Drive Trash is used, discarded repository objects may remain there under Google Drive's deletion rules and continue using storage until permanently deleted. Retained backups remain encrypted and require the owner's recovery password.
Owner control
The owner can stop the utility, change retention, remove backup files or revoke Google access through Google account connections. Revoking access stops future authorized Drive operations; it does not automatically remove existing backups or private recovery credentials.
The support contact for authorization questions is the contact shown by Google with the app's authorization request.
Google Limited Use
The use and transfer of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Such information is used only to provide and maintain the owner's described backup workflow.

These pages contain no analytics, advertising scripts or data-entry forms. The hosting provider may process basic request information to deliver and protect the website. Application files, credentials and recovery passwords are not submitted through this site.
